Jayden Ali and Marta Franceschini present at DCA Symposium
Jayden Ali and design historian and researcher Marta Franceschini were invited in February by David Chipperfield Architects to talk about their collaboration on the V&A’s Fashioning Masculinities exhibition.
Together they discussed the cross-pollination of ideas between curatorial and spatial design practices and the role of storytelling through objects in their projects for both public institutional display and private archives.
Marta Franceschini is a design historian and researcher. She was recently part of the curatorial team for the V&A exhibition ‘Fashioning Masculinities: The Art of Menswear’ - designed by Jayden Ali. Previous exhibition experience includes ‘Italiana: Italy through the Lens of Fashion 1971-2001’ and ‘Il Maschile: Androgynous Mind Eclectic Body’ at the Gucci Garden Galleria. She has collaborated with brand archives at Versace and Zegna and has contributed to the creation of the Giorgio Armani digital archive at Armani/Silos. Marta holds a PhD from Università Iuav di Venezia and writes and lectures regularly on menswear history, material culture, research methodologies and curation.
Thank you to Dionne Griffith and Szandra Mile for organising this special symposium at Ironmongers Hall.
