The Davidson Prize 2025
The Davidson Prize is an annual £25,000 design ideas competition recognising transformative architecture of the home. The prize exists to celebrate innovative design ideas, to encourage multi-disciplinary collaboration and to promote compelling visual communication.
The 2025 theme was: Streets Ahead: The race to build 1.5m homes. Calling for inventive solutions to address the UK's ambitious goal of building 1.5 million homes over the next five years.
The 2025 winner was announced on the 11th June 2025 as 300 Homes within a Union Street mile. By Clifton Emery Design, Nudge Community Builders, Millfields Trust, Plymouth Energy Community, Devon and Cornwall Planning Consultants.
The proposal looks at regenerating a Plymouth high street through community empowerment, and focuses on reusing and extending vacant structures along the high street with affordable community housing and residents’ amenities in order to revive the area.
Founding Director of JA Projects, Jayden Ali, was on this year’s judging panel and shared;
“I loved the winning submission. I thought it demonstrated this great balance between the precision of dealing with the infrastructure necessary in order to deliver 300 homes and meet our housing challenge. But also the everyday care that is needed to support communities. I thought it mobilised an incredible and wide network of collaborators, and I’m looking forward to how the award is able to catalyse that ambition even more moving forward.”
