JA Projects and dRMM win Old Kent Road Estate Contest

Together with dRMM and Adam Khan Architects, JA Projects have won a Southwark Council competition to redesign the 4.7ha Tustin Estate behind the Old Kent Road.

Our role is to deliver new innovative in-fill housing across two small sites. Additionally, we will develop retrofit and upgrade strategies to the existing, as well as to contribute to a revised masterplan vision for the Tustin Estate Regeneration project, Southwark’s pioneering case-study for its Great Estates Programme

Exterior Architecture will be joining the team as landscape architects and Beyond the Box will work on community engagement.

The mixed-tenure, residential-led Tustin Estate scheme comprises council homes, shared equity homes and key worker accommodation. There will also be homes for private sale to raise funds for the council Housing. A new primary school will be provided along with commercial space and a new park at the centre of the estate.

The project builds on the work of DSDHA, Hayhurst & Co, Kennedy Woods and Resolve Collective as the Common Grounds partnership which won the support of 86.6 per cent of residents who voted in favour of redevelopment in March 2021.

The full project team includes dRMM, Adam Khan Architects, Beyond the BoxExterior Architecture Greengage, Heyne Tillett Steel and Loop Engineering.
